ABOUT ABOUT

Welcome back to my first house concert since 2019! Hard to believe it's been two years. Please note that attendees will need to show proof of vaccination/boosts, plus I request that masks be worn inside my home for everyone's well-being. I am also limiting the audience size so everyone has a little more room. My address in San Rafael will be supplied to you once you obtain your ticket(s).

About the artists:

Justin Farren was born and raised in Sacramento, where he lives in a house built with his own two hands - or as he likes to refer to it, "a living museum of my own mistakes." Justin writes multidimensional songs that are both enchanting and seemingly effortless. Songs that are uniquely personal but endlessly inventive and highly relatable. Songs filled with the kind of sudden twists and turns that you never see coming but will never forget. In the last few years he's won a bevy of awards including the Kerrville New Folk Competition, Songwriter Serenade, and Wildflower. Justin's fourth Full Length album, Pretty Free, was released on October 23rd, 2020. It's a homespun masterpiece featuring 11 original songs crafted and recorded in a shed in Justin's own backyard. The majority of the songs on the record have won awards in various songwriting competitions around the country, and the album features some of the finest musicians on the planet, including Brian Chris Rogers, Anna Tivel and Andre Fylling among others. Listen to Justin's music here.

Alberta's Scott Cook has been living out of a van or a backpack for a dozen years now, touring almost incessantly across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia and elsewhere, and distilling his experiences into straight-talking, keenly observant verse. His fourth independent release, One More Time Around, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, and its opening track "Pass It Along" won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, with UK magazine Maverick Country naming him "one of Canada's most inspiring and imaginative storytellers." His sixth studio album Further Down the Line won him his second CFMA nomination (English Songwriter of the Year), and comes packaged in a 132-page book containing a look back, in words and pictures, on a decade of full-time travel. He's currently touring in support of his seventh collection, Tangle of Souls, which comes in a hardcover book of road stories and ruminations, both personal and political. Cook is one of the hardest-working DIY troubadours on the road today, averaging around 150 shows including a dozen festivals every year since 2007. All the hard miles notwithstanding, he still believes that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world. Listen to Scott's music here.

Donation for the musicians is $20 per person. All money goes directly to the Justin and Scott! Be sure to bring extra cash with you as they will have CDs and merchandise for sale.

As is custom with house concerts, please bring a beverage, appetizer or dessert to share. But please, NO RED WINE to save my carpets from that after-show blush!

I am posting this event to more than one group so be sure to get your ticket early to guarantee your seat(s)!
