I'm pleased to announce the return of Austin-based Miranda Dawn and Chris Hawkes to my house concert series. I've had the honor of hosting them twice over the years, and then Covid hit, so it's been a long time since they've been able to visit the Bay Area. Chris and Miranda first met in 2010 when he crossed an Austin barroom floor and asked her to dance. A modest beginning became an undeniable attraction the first time they sang together and created a sound Texas Monthly coined as "undeniably intimate." Their first duo effort, Golden Heart EP, climbed to No. 25 in Billboard’s Folk chart and landed at No. 2 in iTunes singer-songwriter albums and kicked off a whirlwind of constant cross-country touring and co-writing. Dawn and Hawkes recorded their second album, Yours and Mine, in between tour dates with the likes of Dawes, Patty Griffin, Chris Isaak, Jim Lauderdale, Robert Earl Keen, Valerie June, and showcasing at festivals like Austin City Limits, Folk Alliance, South By Southwest and TEDx. Dawn & Hawkes were contestants on season 6 of The Voice, earning a spot on Adam Levine's team with their cover of the Beatle's "I've Seen a Face." They did not make it past the the Battle Rounds, but did come back in season 7 to do a guest appearance on the show. Watch their Voice performance here.
