ABOUT ABOUT

Called "...A Whoop Ass Songwriter" by David Wilcox, Justin Farren is a Sacramento singer songwriter with a knack for good stories and clever lyrics. He has won several songwriting awards including the 2016 Kerrville New Folk Competition, and the People's Choice Award in the Wildflower Arts and Music Fest, 2016. The Sacramento News and Review named him Best Musician in 2009 & 2010, Sacramento Magazine named him Best Lyricist in 2010, and the West Coast Songwriters named his song “Midnight at the Fair” Song of the Year in 2012. Along with Justin's songwriting, guitar playing, and performance pursuits, he is also a recording engineer, house builder, 82 Toyota truck whisperer, and family man. Justin approaches songwriting with intense focus. His songs, although uniquely him, are also highly relatable. You may find yourself thinking Justin can make a song out of any topic. His fan's have been known to say, "There's your next song right there, Justin!" in reference to almost anything. He will absolutely charm you with the strange humor and cleverness of his lyrics. Listen to Justin's music here.

With influences ranging from Mississippi John Hurt and Taj Mahal to progressive musicians like Charlie Parr and Jack White, Eric Long’s music is fundamentally folk music and timelessly steeped in some of America’s earliest musical roots. His songs carry a remarkable knack for simplicity and his voice is one you don’t forget. Eric plays the resonator guitar with a bottleneck slide, the acoustic guitar and the banjo. A Pennsylvania transplant currently living in San Francisco, he is a seasoned songwriter who has played all throughout California and has opened for contemporary roots, folk and blues giants such as Guy Davis, Doug Macleod and Fantastic Negrito. Eric Long released his debut folk & country blues record “A Long Way From Home” in 2018. It was made to be a record that feels like you’re listening on your back porch on a hot summer night with fireflies climbing up your favorite trees in the yard. These are songs of real people. Songs of memory, songs of foolishness, and songs of love. Listen to Eric's music here.

The cost is $20 per person. All money goes directly to the artists! Be sure to bring extra cash with you as Justin and Eric will have CDs for sale.

As is custom with house concerts, please bring a beverage, appetizer or dessert to share. But please, NO RED WINE to save my carpets from that after-show blush!

I am posting this event to more than one group so be sure to buy your ticket early to guarantee your seat(s)!
